Thanks! :) )

Now, on to the 14th Writing Challenge I've posted since January. This time, things are a little different-- Instead of the usual three keywords where I suggest one species, with two other keywords (at least one being an object), I'm offering a choice of five species, along with two other keywords.

5 species? Why yes- My five favourite species: SQUIRREL, MOUSE, BUNNY, SKUNK and LEPTICTIDIUM. :) You can use ONE OR MORE, even ALL FIVE species, if you like!

The other keywords?
BIRTHDAY (yes, again- This time for my birthday...)
BRIDGE (because I have an annual tradition of walking the Sundial Bridge in Redding, California on or near my birthday (see link))

As usual, stories may be short or long, tame/clean or very naughty, any genre, whatever-- Just as long as you have fun writing the story, with only one caveat: I don't expect the obvious-- Surprise me!

I have no expiry date on these Challenges, so if you want, you can always go back to previous Challenges, if the current Challenge is not to your liking.

For those experiencing my Writing Challenge for the first time, I do this primarily to encourage creative writing and foster a writing community on Inkbunny as IB continues to grow, and to give something back to IB as a writer, myself.

Well, it has been a long while since I've written any stories...so I thought I'd give this a go... I'm sorry if it is a bit long. -_-; https://inkbunny.net/submissionview.php?id=161290

First off, welcome to my Writing Challenges! :) As for length, I've said in previous Challenges (and still holds true), it can be short enough to fit on a flea's back (and no, I don't mean Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers! *laughs!* :D ) or long enough to make War and Peace look like a pamphlet-- The most important rule is to simply have fun with it. :)

(To date, "Elanie and the Thing"
is the longest submission to my Writing Challenges.)

I'll be reading your entry shortly-- Gotta convert it to ePub so I can read it on my iPod touch... Inkbunny has yet to support ePub as a text format. :P

Lol! Not sure I have ever gotten to the point of making War and Peace look like a pamphlet on any of my writings, though I love Tolstoy, I never read it either. ^^;;; Thanks for the reply and link - my curiosity may get the better of me and I'll take the filter off to see a little of the story. ^^;

My tastes tend towards science fiction and slice-of-life, with more than a pinch of humour, so some heavy reads (like Tolstoy) aren't usually my fare, but War and Peace is the standard bearer for a "big book". :P

I hope you like the story above- I'm about to reread it while on-trip, since I enjoyed it the first time around. :)

Skunk, bunny, squirrel, mouse, and leptictidium... Wonky, but not undoable, I think.  But first things first.

The results should be interesting... :)

Another Challenge faced and conquered! My species-of-choice is the leptictidium, and with some help from an expert in the field I have come up with this tale of a young girl's journey into adulthood. I realise that it comes in between birthdays for you, but see it as a belated gift in advance. *grins*

And there will be another Challenge story coming shortly...
