No I haven't disappeared. I'm still working on stories and have a few things completed but embargoed until other storylines that they cross catch up. But that's not the point of this journal....
I've been reading back a few of my older stories - ones that are old enough to feel like I was picking up a well-worn paperback and re-reading it for the tenth time. The thing that amazed me was that they held up to that. I've never thought of myself as a "writer" just a "storyteller" but this "review" of the older stuff has convinced me of a couple of things.
1: I should write more scifi.
2: World-building matters - I've caught myself a couple of times leaving holes in that and they ALWAYS bite me firmly on the tail later.
3: I actually CAN tell a relatively decent story, so should get off my ass and tell more of them. The to-do and WIP list just got WAY longer, because that encourages me to take some of the concepts I've got rolling around my head and actually turn them into words on the screen.
