My replacement comp has arrived, now all I have to do is transfer components from one machine to the other (hard drive, DVD drive, memory, etc) and install the OS. I'm sticking with good old reliable WinXP, especially since all my peripherals are so old, there are no supported drivers beyond XP anyways.

Yeah, XP is a lot less cranky than Vista or Win7, and still accepts a lot of older peripherals and their drivers. Vista and 7 pretty much were designed to force you to replace your older stuff with new to be compatable. Me, so long as it still runs, I'm not replacing it!
