We need this more than ever, now.

More than ever, we need Inkbunny not only to be in addition to, but to completely REPLACE FurAffinity. The administrators over there are engaging in unconscionable abuses of power. See https://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1462952/ for details.

[UPDATE] Alex's account has been reinstated and the offending icon removed. Things should start calming down now, but we must remain vigilant.

[UPDATE 2] Link updated from Zephon's now-deleted journal to Alex's new journal synopsizing the WHOLE event.

Sometimes it's easy to get angry or overemotional as an admin, and hand out overly harsh punishments. The chances are, if his violation wasn't too serious, he could appeal to Dragoneer to be let back on, or explain himself if there has been a serious mistake of some kind.

Whatever the reason for him getting banned, using replacement avatars to "shame" banned users is not very professional. It actually draws a lot of attention to the banned account. Inkbunny has a policy of "zero contact" with troublemakers. Their accounts get zapped and there is no drama or posts or special icons. They just vanish in a cloud of dust. Trolls crave attention, and they shrivel up and die without it. Those replacement avatars FA is using say "go to this account and have a look at the drama!".

Agreed. I hope he can get back on. The actual "violation" was initially that his avatar, which he'd been using for four years, was in violation of the newly stringent AUP on avatars since it had flashing frames they deem "seizure-inducing". What got him banned was remonstrating the admin who changed his avatar with no warning--said admin took offense and went on a power trip.

I'm breaking my own internal "rules" btw. I won't be encouraging mods to get involved in drama on other sites by discussing it here. But hey, private site for a few more days. :3 I know the guys at FA are generally good people and reason usually prevails once the head admins get involved. But with an admin staff that huge, there's going to be problems now and then.

Inkbunny users are free to yell and scream at us all they want, as long as it's within the TOS. Complaining about us won't get you banned.

As a followup, I found this comment by Alex on Chase's account. He's the admin probably responsible for the ban.

Could he have been banned for being angry about the shame of that "joke" avatar? It's a good example of why that avatar is such a bad idea. As he says, removing the avatar and sending Alex a PM explaining why would have been all that was needed.

Instead it has escalated into drama.

Alfador can tell you all how professionally we deal with rule-breaking avatars here. :3

Hmm there is some followup that Alex put up an avatar that said "Fuck FA admins".  But was that after they changed his avatar to the joke one? DRAMA. We'd take a dim view of that here, but hopefully we'd never initially outrage a member enough to inspire them to commit another TOS violation. Even after the abusing avatar was posted, the admins should have simply deleted it and PMd him to calm down.

Oh well I'll stay out now. XD Abject lessons all round.

It actually WAS after they'd changed his avatar. And it was BECAUSE they'd changed his avatar.
