Car problems

So friday night I got a txt from my bf saying the car stopped in the middle of the road.
ok several people tell us its the starter, several mechans.
We buy a used starter from a place my mom suggests.
We got it put in this morning, well my bf did while I was at work.
and its still not working.
So now its the Timing chain, and he tells me its like $500 for the part (idk if it is but imma look it up pretty soon)

I feel like just saying to hell with that car and getting another one, but with neither of us having credit, there are only a few places that will actually let us rent to own a car.
Just when I was thinking, "we can finally start saving"
this shit happens

but i'm sure similar things happens to anyone that thinks their in the clearing

so anyone have a car they wanna give to me
or $2k so I can just buy one out lol
j/k (although if your srly considering you should pm me owo)

You're welcome. Hopefully it get's fixed. Srsly tho, unless the Timing chain broke, I dont see why that would be an issue. If it was a timing BELT, though, it could break and will kill the car instantly. Anyway, I'll keep an eye out for notices.

You're welcome to drop me a line (I'm an autotech), but diagnosing the car without having it in front of me really isn't feasible.  However, any mechanic that told you it was the starter needs to be fired, and the shop shut down.  That is the most bullshit statement I have ever heard.  I would immediately file a complaint with the BAR with each and every shop that told you that.

To start with though, what's the make/model/year of the car?

*sigh*  I know the feeling, whenever I get more than a hundred or so socked away, car blows up, computer blows up, something around the house breaks...etc.

If I can afford to, I'll try to commission you again.

If you can. get it to autozone. They can actually figure out whats wrong with the car and get the part you need for you. not all mechanics can be trusted you kno?

I had a similar situation.  The battery had started to go bad and it caused the alternator to fail.  I replaced both on my own with some advice from the guy at Napa Autoparts and it's running fine now.  Altogether it cost about $200 for both new battery and alternator.

This was after everyone else I knew was saying it was a bad starter.

Question does the car crank if so how fast?
Next question does it have ac if so did it stop working?
Last thing if you could send me a recording of the way it sounds when you try and turn it over that could help me
