My Worst Fear

That's the name of the game! I couldn't think of anything better this time around. Then again, it is pretty late. XD

What's your worst fear and why? As usual, if you don't want to say it publicly, feel free to send me a PM.

I'm curious to hear what my watchers have to say! ^_^

I know this may sound cliche, because I've been with my mate for over 2 years, but losing the one I love. =/

besides dying a painful death my biggest fear is losing my mate and the few people I really love
I like being by myself but I hate it to be lonely

Not finding true love, it drives me to tears every so often and I wonder if I'll ever find it.

they say the key is to never give up hope... keep looking and it'll find you
HimaChita

I try, but when you're almost 30 and haven't felt love, it gets harder and harder.
WhyteYote
6 years, 11 months ago
Or you could stop looking and be blindsided.  I wasn't looking when I fell in love.  And being almost 30 statistically predisposes you to being in a lasting relationship more likely.
HimaChita
6 years, 11 months ago
Well, I'm not actively looking, not as long as I live with my bigot dad, but I never put myself out there thoough. Not sure on that factoid though, I feell very clingy and would probably drive someone away.

Growing up to be a selfish old bastard living alone, that I fear most. I dont wanna be the grumpy old man who pushes people away even though they try to help, then feel bad and get more grumpy cuz im lonely.

Oooh, worst fear. Depends, I normally don't categorize my fears by intensity...

Well, first off all, is falling. I have no fear of heights whatsoever, I have a fear of falling from heights. More than once I was left shivering and white-knuckle gripping whatever I am holding onto when climbing ladders or particularly tall rides at the waterpark. I can manage, but I'd rather not because that fear is nearly crippling.

Second, is my fear of losing my girlfriend. When I get into a relationship. I dump EVERYTHING into it. My heart and soul and everything that spans that vast gulf of physical meat and spiritual gooey-ness goes into my love life, and with it being over five years now that we've been together, I can't imagine how destroyed I would feel if she broke it off. Thankfully, it's very unlikely unless one of us did something blindingly stupid (say, getting drunk and sleeping with someone else), but we love one another's company and so it's less likely that that would happen than, say, one of us just spontaneously combusting.

Third, and this one is bizarre, is my physical fear of dismemberment. Not of dying of being dismembered, or losing entire limbs, I'm not scared of that. It's the fear of something biting or ripping off half of my foot, or part of my hand. And, bizarre though it may seem, it's not a fear of losing the entire appendage...it's always halves, and it's always my hands of feet. The curve of the foot, between the heel and your big toe, the thought of something biting through that makes me ill. The same for the hand, the meaty part of the palm that connects to the thumb and over to the index finger. Strange, isn't it?

Fourth, and perhaps worst of all, is my belly button. I have no freakin' clue why, but my belly button is such a no-touch zone I get violent if people persist. My tummy? MAJOR erogenous zone. My belly-button? No touchy. The fear of someone touching it, belly button piercings, or someone sticking the finger in my belly button makes me cringe worse than when you hear fingernails on a chalk board (though I've never had a problem with that sound. The screeching noise of styrofoam when it's rubbed together makes me feel like my ears are bleeding).

And that's about it, from what I could only categorize from least to worst.

Pardon if I'm intruding, about your third fear, are you sure you're not afraid of being bitten? You mentioned that image a couple of times in your description. Have you ever been bitten by a wild or uncontrolled animal or been surprised by that image?
nekkofox
6 years, 11 months ago
Surprisingly, no, and I've handled many an animal. Cats, dogs, ferrets, parrots, any number of critters that chomp down on my hand or fingers whenever they tire of my loving attentions. I even lovingly chuckle and pat my cat and dog's head, saying "Oh, you're so cute but your jaws are too weak to hurt me...". In fact, some of my favorite turn-on's is being bitten playfully by my partner (though I keep asking for them to bite harder).

Then they scamper off. I developed this fear in a small lake in my town (Loveland, Colorado), large and murky enough where you could not see the bottom. We were in boat and everyone was comfortably floating about in innertubes in the summer afternoon, myself included, and passively I thought of a fish biting off a chunk of my foot. The more I dwelled on the thought, the more uncomfortable I got and since then I've not enjoyed the idea although I've never experienced it first-hand. Even that summer I never even SAW a fish much less bitten by one (of course, in Colorado, the largest fish I've seen was eight inches long). It just freaks me out and I have no idea why. Bizarre.

So you're afraid of being dismembered by a fish? Well then, you need a guard otter!

...sorry, I shouldn't make fun of your fears, but perhaps that does suggest an approach to self-help. You imagined blood-thirsty fish waiting to bisect your limbs; now imagine an otter guarding you from them. (Giant amazonian otters are the only critter that eats red piranhas, you know.) Personally, I've found that foxes and otters make good friends anyway. But if that doesn't work for you, perhaps something similar will.

Good luck!

Ha, you're silly. Well, it was based around the concept of fish biting, but now it is a generalized dislike, encompassing any creature that can bite through a foot, however I don't think having a guard otter would be a move in the wrong direction, yes? Always up for some company, I am.

Well, I guess realizing I'll never have somebody to my own. Idk...
Added to that, having my heart broken.

Those are my more... Emotional fears.
Well, being jumped. I've been jumped. Several times. Just, just no. I can't even move to run, so I'm helpless.

Philosophically, my greatest fear is to not have a purpose, either real or made up.

Physically...things like needles in my eyes.  No.

Worst fear?  well...   i would have to say a world with out cute things...  i can not imagine what i would do...  i know if anything happened to my munk plushie i would prolly be extremely sad.  As it is now, if i forget him anywhere i will turn around and go back for him no matter where i am or as far i have gone...

second worst is being powerless to help someone who really needs it.  or being too afraid to do what i can to help them.  ^_^  make sense out of the second half of that one...  ^_^

What about you?  what are you most afraid of?

spiders..... i hate them they freak me out in a very bad way..... yet they seem to love me cause they constantly find their way to my car.  I'm so afraid of spiders that one dangled down in front of me at a meeting and when i saw it, it was an inch from my nose and i cleared two people from a sitting jump <.< followed by about 15 minutes of hyper ventilating.

as for fears ummmm  probably not going to make much sense without the full details which im not gonna give but failing the two weeks.

death...just death. I don't want to die I want to live on. People say immortality would get boring but I don't think it could. I mean comeon actually being able to live forever and see everything that people say is in the future? I'd love that. I don't want to lose my conciousness, and one day sleep and never wake again. I hate missing things due to sleep as it is, but its needed. Sure you'll outlive all family, and stuff but it would be a pain I could endure. After all what doesn't kill us only makes us stronger right?

Worms...Earthworm and parasite variety. I can't stand them, I will seriously take a wide berth around one if i see it on the ground. I can't explain it...they are just...disgusting beyond reason to me. Also deep water. I drowned (yes actually drowned) twice as a child in my grandpas pool, so deep water freaks me right the fuck out. Which is very strange given that I want to learn how to sail x.x;
