Errr... paypal....

Ok, so i'm like absolutely terrified to keep my account information linked to paypal, and yet so many artists and even companies still insist on relying on them even though they have repeatedly fucked people over hardcore. I haven't had any problems and I'm not looking to be a victim either. I know alertpay as a possible alternative but is there anything else I could possibly rely on? I'm sure they are out there, but I'd probably have to brainstorm as to how I would still be able to send paypal payments using these other services as I want to refuse paypal with access to my bank accounts. I'm actually thinking of calling my bank to tell them to refuse paypal transactions, but then so much for ordering anything at all because everyone wants to be buddy buddy with paypal.  :\

Unfortunately Paypal is in a similar situation as FurAffinity. They are not necessarily the best. The ethics of their administration  is absolutely terrible. But, they are popular. Nobody wants to be on a furry site with only 2 of their friends; likewise, having a payment method that others don't use is not preferable for artists or commissioners. What would need to happen to get a new payment method to replace Paypal HERE, is that a few of the more popular (in taking commissions) artists would have to get together and form a group decision to use any other payment processor and refuse Paypal for ethical reasons. Honestly though, it's not likely. InkBunny is a better site (in construction, coding, features, etc) in my opinion than FurAffinity, but it took ...well, basically eviction (for cub artists/friends of cub artists) from FA to get most of the artists here that we have now, and there is still a very large number that refuse to leave. AlertPay looked like it was going to be the alternative until the big dramatic mess with FA; then everyone reverted back to Paypal-only. But really, how many artists around here are ethically motivated enough to boycott the most popular payment processor amongst their current clientele at the potential cost of their rent money? I don't know any. :/

I hear ya on that. Its so hard to exercise the will power to do so, though I honestly wish people would try. It would force the hand of both of said companies to reconsider their policies and practices if people would boycott them until they behaved better. But furries like people in general don't like to change from what they are comfortable with anyway. I'm actually trying to convince myself to refuse to even log into FA at all but that's a war I thinks i'm pretty much one of the very few that are in. I actually had a conversation with a few people about FA's practices, some people just don't know of and refuse to believe what they do, mostly because they are not yet a direct victim of anything and others are just to lazy to set up at another site.

I mean if walmart can change what they stock to healthier choices, such as better stocking in hormone free food products and general super markets start offering more organic foods just because people refuse to buy them, FA would have to change as well if people just stopped using the service, or rather stop donating and announce why and I thinks a deep reconsideration for business practices would happen.

I'm actually in a pretty much lonely battle against the Dunkin' Donuts across the street from my job. x3
I would take my money to another donut shop or just forgo coffee and donuts at all just because they made me wait forever to give me my order and skipped me over several times, even though I'm a regular customer and I pretty much always order the same thing. Besides, other franchises stuff is fresher then theirs anyway, their coffee rolls and cookies are always burnt.

Kitty would never forgive me if I ate at a Dunkin Donuts. He's worked at Starbucks for years, x3 (who have excellent coffee and donuts, btw). And I did as much separating myself from FA as I could. I don't post, comment, fave, watch, etc. But I still use my account to lurk. I'd be missing out on the other half of what's going on in the furry community if I didn't.

Hah, sounds like everyone  have our personal biases. Though I just wish this other coffee shop called Glora Jeans was open at the hours I work. Their coffee tastes soooo goodies, though not many shops are open past midnight. :(
