Mac vs. PC. who the hell cares?

by
Am I the only one that is getting tired of the pointless debate between which is better? Macs and PCs both have their advantages and disadvantages. I prefer my mac for certain things, among which is a more user friendly file system, I've never had a virus in over 15 years of using them, and I've had excellent customer service when my motherboard nuked itself (to the point where they gave me a newer iMac for free when they couldn't fix my old one. But, they are more expensive than I think they're worth. I do all my 2D work on my Mac.

My PC is a workstation I built myself to run Maya and Mudbox and nothing else. So far, it seems to be doing alright, though in the past I've had far more problems with PC's being unreliable than I have Macs.

If you're a hardcore gamer, then get a PC. There are games for mac (Halo and Call of Duty for example,) but not nearly as many. For anything else, just get whichever interface you prefer.

Realistically, why do people insist on keeping this debate going? Without jumping into an unsupported blanket statement that one is better than the other, what are your reasons for choosing the computer you have?

I have a PC because I was a PC tech.  I have an iPad because I was sick of troubleshooting my own damn PC all the time.  I didn't get an update, and I got a really nasty java based virus that harvested my info - then I got a call from our stockbroker asking if I was in Sweden, and if I really wanted to sell all my stocks (Yeah, true story.)

I was running Spybot S&D, Malware Bytes (just for weekly scans), and McAfee.  The virus came in when I hooked up to my house network, and a friend had brought her lappy over to 'show us some things'.

I now use NoScript all the damn time.

I will be buying a Mac when this laptop gives out.

This is exactly why my workstation isn't hooked up to the internet

Hey, maybe you could field a question for me.  I've had problems converting art I color on the iPad over to my PC.  I have been told it's because windows has some horrible color handling.  Have you had any problems painting directly on the mac and uploading it?

nope. I've never had a problem other than the usual color differences between monitors. One thing to keep in mind is that Macs have brighter displays. So most of the time, When I color something on my Mac, it usually looks darker on my PC. Part of your problem might have something to do with the iPad itself not really liking your PC.

Well, I do hear screaming every time I connect the two together, but I thought that was completely normal.

Most people who work deeper in a computer than the programs it came with and the games they install have moved on from ths arguement. But in case thy don't the simplest solution is to walk away.
