Inkling

by
What do you all think of the new Wacom Inkling?  It looks like an awesome tool to me and it should work great with my way of sketching.  You can even create more than one layer when drawing.  That makes me wonder if they're going to produce different color ink cartridges.  I don't see any indication of that.  It would also have been nice if they took some standard cartridge or offered mechanical pencil inserts or something.  Maybe later I hope.

Hmm, interesting idea. =) Good way of having a physical original (proof of ownership?) while still be able to share online. =3

I'm seeing it more as a starting point as sketches you can do anywhere without needing a laptop and tablet, then mess with the drawings later.

I'd prefer to have an eraser too.  At least it saves everything in a vector format you can redo later.

I do not really care for it, to be honest.... It removes so much of the good parts of owning an actual tablet.

I kind of hope they have a pencil insert with a ink setting. That way you can sketch as normal and erase mistakes. It looks like a big step forward though and for 199$ it beats the hell out of a cintiq.

I hope so too.  And I wouldn't want to use it as a replacement for a Cintiq or a tablet, just as a sketching tool to use anywhere.

I'll save my money and stick with MSPaint and Photoshop, and pencil and paper + scanner.
