So I've decided to try my hand at the whole Patreon thing. Since I'll be new at the whole shebang I'd appreciate it if anyone could leave me some advice here.
My only advice would be make a steady chain of content, and give incentive to donate based on rewards. You have to make sure people who are donating are getting something constantly since its a monthly(?) deal. That's why I can't make one at the moment. I'm not at the point right now where I can make steady content, and I wouldn't want people donating to me if they aren't getting anything. (on Patreon anyway). But I will be in a new house by December and able to make more stuff more often~. Anyway, make sure people are consistently getting their money's worth, that's my only tip really.

Make sure you have ok tiers, like start off small, say 2$, then maybe 5$, then 10$ etc up to a certain limit. The lower tiers 2-5 would be just to support you, and maybe get a little something extra (say for example suggestions in the activity), the medium tiers of 10+ would perhaps get a freebie sketch (simple, not advanced) or something just as a way to say thanks.
Then you have the potential high tiers of like 25$+, perhaps a freebie simple picture for those etc
I agree about the activity also, make sure you can at least do a few artworks a month to upload. It can be annoying to sign up to support an artist and then see the months tick by and nothing getting uploaded.

It important to have different tiers as people who donate more should get more rewards. I have seen artists like lizombie or kevinsano giving people the option to pay from $1 every month, to $50 or more every month. usually the highest tiers the artists give them coloured single or two characters commissions every month, while the second highest to mid tiers such as 10 or 20 usd, the artists give sketch commissions. The prices are obviously entirely up to you.
And you can limit the number of people who can donate for the highest tier if you feel you cannot deliver too many commissions every month. that is how the artists regulate their workload, by limiting the number of slots. Of course if you open more slots for people to pay, you get an obligation to deliver more. SO its your call to find a balance.
One advice, patreon had anti fraud measures, so content creators wont be able to rip off people by not delivering the rewards after payment.
I hope if you do decide to get a patreon, it won't affect your ability to provide us with more clop? ;_;

You don't necessarily have to provide commissions as rewards, either. Some folks do it where the more support they get the more they work on a series/comic, and certain levels of payment get you different things, e.g. access to sketches, works in progress, color vs. grayscale, and so on.
It all depends on your situation and how much you need the Patreon donators to support yourself. For example some have a part time job, but they have to work more often and so can't draw a comic as often if donations are low, but can do more on the comic if they get good support.
