UserTube - confirmed buggies

by
So I used a Vista machine today (32 bit) and tried it.
I learned that the download progress won't show, but the downloader is actually running.
This is due to an IPC function the downloader uses to communicate with the main exe.
Vista apperently doesn't like that or doesn't have whatever that function uses.

So, that's about all that I could see for myself anyway. I also had a friend test it out on his 64 bit Vista machine. I had find another way to fetch the XML so it would display the video results at all. Funny thing is, the old way worked fine on the machine I tested myself, but not on his...hmph..  The progress on downloads is also broken on his just like on the test machine.

So that's really all I can do atm. This coding stuff is driving my batshit crazy ^///^ I just wanna get back into a nice art groove and do something that feels natural instead of forced :)

Here's another zip for der moment:

If you're running XP, you're very fortunate lol.

Aww, but I was having so much fun!  Well, it's good to hear that you'll be doing what you love again, Looq.

I'm assuming you won't want me to send any bug updates, then?

LoL! I'm good on bugs for the moment, but thanks!
Probably end up learning how to use libcurl or curl itself to do the downloading since things seem so outta wack.
*snugs you* ^^

Hehe, actually I was just gonna let you know which ones seemed fixed.  Didn't have much time to play around today.  Ishoka was streaming Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and who knew I'd love it after not seeing for, like, a decade and a half (when I was a kid)?  XD

Aww...I wuv your snugs *snug snugs*

I wonder, did the link help you any that I posted for you buckling? I don't even know what programming language it is though, maybe Python?

On the other hand, I might selfishly benefit of you getting back to what you love... :P

It seems to work ok for me.  I'm running XP sp3.  I have no plans on moving to Vista or 7, unless programs like Firefox actually stop working on XP.  I don't see that happening any time soon.  :)

*hugs you just because* Finally!!!! A person that doesn't have upgrade feaver!! *squeezes and nuzzles*
I totally agree with you there. If all my basic need-to-have stuff stopped working I'd find something else, but this silly hype of "Windows blah blah is better because it's new" is plain foolish. I've considered switching to Linux actually....but...I dunno how well PCSX2 and all my art programs would run then.  If it ain't broke don't fix it! ^___^

I still use the older versions of a lot of programs, because they simply work better or faster, and they take up only a fraction of the space of new versions. I use classic WinAmp 2.95.  I haven't seen an audio format that it can't play, though some require plugins.  I use classic ACDSee 2.42.  It views every image I've ever seen, and it's fast. Those two together come to under 3 megs!  I still have a Win 98 machine and a Win 3.11 machine, because some older programs work best with them.  I compiled a lot of DOS-based utilities for personal use, and many of those work best under the versions of Windows or DOS they were made for.  Constant upgrading means constantly tweaking old, but useful, programs to keep them working properly.  I'd much rather be actually using my stuff than tweaking it all the time.  :)

Eventually, the web will evolve to something like HTML 6, and the only browsers that will handle it will require a minimum of Windows 7, or 8, or whatever.  Major changes like that will force me to upgrade, but I normally stay with what works the fastest, takes the least space, and has the best ease of use. So, all the constant upgrade hype never works on me.  I don't upgrade my refrigerator every time a newer and more expensive model comes out either.  :)

6 Years worth of tinkering around with a AutoHotKey on my own, and a need to make my computer work the way I wanted it to ^_^

Hehehe! I've never worked on repairing a Mac before but I did use them a lot in college. Very sleek machines! Now if you're talking about a PC, I could help ya *grins*

But! You know...I'd trade knowing programming for knowing how to play the piano any day of the week :D
Gaaaah! How do you do that!
