Good news! ...I think!

The phone interview went reasonably well! Though I stumbled over a lot of design/coding questions from a nice lady with a thick accent (SO thankful the phone connection was good this time, it let me actually understand her!!), I did eventually come up with satisfactory (I'm pretty sure) answers to ALL of them rather than admitting defeat on any. I did admit that I was dredging up knowledge of data structures and database schema that had lain dormant for a long time, but ultimately prevailed (maybe) because at the end, she mentioned that a recruiter would be contacting me within the next few days!!!

...Now I just need to get prepared for tomorrow's interview! *flail, again*

Good job.

Here's a secret, those questions are supposed to be hard.  What they are doing is seeing how long it takes you to fail.  Getting them all right is a major thing.

I disagree with that last part.  Having given interviews before, the questions are more geared to give the employer an idea of how long you go under pressure.  There's usually no right-or-wrong answer to the questions, save obviously wrong ones like "If a customer is frustrated with me I'll beat in his or her face."  The problem comes in when people are really desperate to get the job and they crack after just a few seconds.

Basically, be truthful with the answers and you'll do fine.  They (we anyway) only look at the applicant's references, prior work and (if they had one) a resume.

Fair enough.  I was going by what they told me during my last job interview.

That's good. I hope the next step goes as smoothly.

What helped me in my interview yesterday was going there  - not with the attitude of - "I want to work for them, lets impress them so they take me..." - but rather like - "Ah, so they want me to work for them ;) Let's see and find out what they are doing there and what they want me to do" - I think that made me ask the right questions - I got the job, I'll start in Oktober :)
