awwwh! then you won;t be able to give balloons to everyone! you better start hoarding them! D=

awww dont you worry kenny, I bet they are working on it as we speak! <3 I bet those super duper starty pants peoples in those labs are thinking up a new gas that will be just as good as helium, if not better. *huggles and gives you a bundle of fun shaped balloons* <3

I know your being positive, but it really just doesn't work like that. The only option to get more would be to literally make more helium, which would be very hard, time consuming, and not to mention very expensive. But they can't just come up with some new substance.

did you know that argon has the same properties as helium when turn to gaseous form? pessimist.

Hey! No need to be rude! I was just trying to be realistic :(

I wasnt being rude X3 I was being truthful. science knows best, someone will come up with an alternative to helium, im sure of it. =3
SkippyTheFox

But instead of just saying that, you called me a pessimist :(
CLCoon

well pessimists arent bad people, they just look at the negative more than the positive. <=2

I actually like to be positive most the time c:> truce? (not that we were arguing really x3)

truce indeed. X3

Helium is commonly used by NASA and the Defense Department and has applications including medical research and computer chip manufacturing.
But inhaling the gas to temporarily change the sound of a person's voice could someday be a thing of the past. Some say even private supplies could run out in 25 to 100 years -- and no known substance on Earth can replace helium.
Naturally generating more helium takes time, as scientists say helium comes from the decay of radioactive elements.
"The Earth is 4.7 billion years old, and it has taken that long to accumulate our helium reserves, which we will dissipate in about 100 years," Nobel Prize-winning scientist Robert Richardson, who has studied the potential helium shortage, has said.

i dont think you have too much to worry about ;)

Things like this make me wonder if science could one day artificially create elements (and thus any natural substance) thus ending the threat of depleted resources.

I mean, if we know the atomic composition of natural substances, why can't we take some atoms and arrange them in that given pattern someday?  (I get it's science fiction for now, but I don't see why it couldn't be possible in the future.)

actually, most of the heaviest known elements were specificly created artificially. But they only existed for seconds.

also to your question, it would take way to much effort to change Billions of atoms just to make a little bit of a substance.

at least until we  can get nuclear fusion working.

Hell, there's plenty of other things the world's running out of: http://www.cracked.com/article_19048_6-important-thing...

(Oil's not on the list because it, like, ran out last week. No joke.)

It's gonna be a bumpy ride, kids.

I think it's all gonna be all right. So don't worry Kenny~! ^^

Don't worry. The planets in our solar system have enough of it in their atmospheres. We just gotta harvest it :D
And the sun makes fresh one every day too!

Don't worry, Kenny.  We will fill your balloons with hydrogen.
Blackpaw

they did that with the hindenberg, look how it turned out

Just don't pop the balloons....

balloons are made of rubber, rubber builds a static charge pretty well. static discharge creats a spark, sparks make hydrogen explode

*uses nuclear fusion to fuse hydrogen atoms into helium*

Hmm not seeing it saying it will be gone. Its more saying that the reserves for one of our main plants is lessening. Though its also getting be the gov that runs the plant is wanting shut it down as appearently they arent making enough to counter the cost and up keep of the plant for harvesting it and selling it. Yet another thing they want to give away to companies to over charge for. basically expect it to get very pricey to fill your balloons hun. No reason to panic though its just saying unless someone takes over the harvesting plants we're going be importing it.

Does anyone have a copy of the article? I would like to read it but after a minuit on the page I am redirected to another article about a drout. Like who wants to read about some foreign countries problems ? XD I want to know about the helium...

WOW... after some hours on the pc and searchs on google and so, I found something about making balloons float without helium. Still it seems to be dangerous so you'll need some adult's help; but could be better than nothing. Sadly I know nothing to do about the helium running out and how to get more.

*kneels to hugs you softly*
