That's What I Like About...

YOU!

I thought it would be cool to ask my watchers a question that just popped into my head.

What is your favorite fictional character and why?

It can be from a movie, television series, comic, novel, etc.

I'm curious to hear what my watchers will respond with! ^_^

Unico from the Fantastic Adventures of Unico and Unico and the Island of Magic

The fact that he is a fucking adorable boy unicorn.

Also love the metaphor.  Unico has the power to make others "Happy" the Gods did not think anyone should have the ability to decide who is "happy" besides them.  Various other things :3

I hadn't heard of Unico before, so I looked it up on Wikipedia. I didn't know it was a work by Osamu Tezuka. I might have to check it out at some point. :3

I'd have to go with Eric Cartman from South Park because he's got to be the most sadistic, mean spirited, kick-ass little jerk on TV. I wish I had known a friend like Eric Cartman during my childhood.....there never would have been a dull moment! XD

his ability to overcome adversity and do anything for his friends while taking on any challenge is defiantly some of the things that i try and live by that plus he is an awesome dual wielding sword fighter just a major plus in my heart.  He wasn't afraid to be different both in his home land and above.

Such a tough question...  I loved King Kazma from Summer Wars, but who doesn't?  Jon Talbain as well, from Darkstalkers, and Trone from Brave Story.  Kazma is such a badass, and yet is a sexy bunny.  Talbain is uber-sexy and doesn't let his weight slow him down, he's still agile (wolf, prolly has a high weight).  Trone, if anyone has read Brave Story, is an anthro tiger sheriff who comes off as really mean at first, but later in the book, he turns out to be a rather nice guy.  I've actually fantasized about him a few times...*blush* ^_^;;
FoxiePanda

King Kazma is fucking awesome! Summer Wars has to be one of my favorite movies of all-time. <3 Jon Talbain is a really neat character as well, though I don't know a great deal about Dalkstalkers. As for Trone from Brave Story, I don't remember his character from the movie. But yay for fantasies! ;)

Really tough one this is... from the furry fandom, i would say Roni..
From outside Furry fandom.. .. hmm..  Maybe DEATH from the Discworld saga..
He is so cool, and eternal, force of nature.. and yet he still does not understand humanity at all, and he is so desperate trying to..  hmm... still.. I might have to come back to this one later, after a deep ponder.
FoxiePanda

Well we all know Roni is awesome!
As for that character, I haven't read any of the Discworld books. Maybe I should at some point...
Lyserdigi

Roni surely is =^..^=
And, it's not because he is such a horny 'lil beast, well, not entirely atleast.. Furry fandom, or how to put it, is full of all kinds of slutty and horny characters. I like Roni because of his attitude, his playfulness, his character, his mischievousness. if you know what I'm trying to say. That pup has so many personal traits, that he indeed seems like a full persona, instead of just fantasy yifftoy..

Walker Boh, from the Heritage of Shannara. He's born with magic and it makes him confident in himself, however he's also very curious, when asked by the shade of Allanon to return the druid order to the land, he replies by saying that he would sooner cut off his own hand than do it... during part of his quest to sate his curiosity his arm becomes infected with a poison that turns it to stone, to save his life, he ironically has to sever his own hand, later he becomes the only druid in the land

Richard Rahl from The Sword of Truth series of books. As far as role models go, he has to be my favorite. He's kind and generous, but a stalwart leader. He's a visionary and hero to his people. He befriends enemies, and leads armies. He wields magic in the name of good, and always seeks the truth. His father was a rapist who took his mother, but instead of letting that fact crush him, he used it to be empathetic towards others and set examples for how one's family past does not determine your future. He's strong, friendly, and clear-headed. He went against what everyone said so that he could be with the woman he loved, and he never wavered from the belief that good shall triumph over evil.

NOTE: I am referring to the BOOK SERIES. The Television series was a piece of shit on par with the Twilight series, and is an abortion of cinematography and story-telling that raped Terry Goodkind's books.

seriously though, it's a toss up between Jane from firefly or Lord Genome from Gurren Lagann.... Jane just because... well he's Jane. And Lord Genome 'cus well... he really is THE spiral king. sure Simone beat the anti-spiral, but Lord Genome 1: was the first human to face the anti-spiral, 2: built an ENTIRE effin' army of super galactic di-gunman battle fortresses, 3: subsequently destroyed that whole army single handedly, 4: created an ENTIRE race of what is essentially furries by shear force of will, 5: lived for 1000 years (again, by shear willpower), 6: came back to life as a computer that was essentially nixon's head in a jar, 7: turned himself into a galaxy sized drill that simon used to save the day, and 8: HE PUNCHED A 50 FOOT ROBOT IN THE FACE WITH HIS BARE HANDS!

It's too hard to pick one, so here's a list:

Harry Dresden from The Dresden Files
Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid
Claire Redfield from Resident Evil
Wynne from Dragon Age Origins
Atticus from To Kill a Mockingbird
Haré from Haré+Guu
Jack Bauer from 24

That's all I can think of now.

So many choices!

If you had to choose just one though, who would it be? :3
sircharles
Alright, among all of those, I would have to go with Wynne.  If you haven't played DA:O, she's an old woman being kept alive by a spirit that's linked itself to her after having followed her almost all of her life.  She serves as the team's spirit healer with a strong sense of justice (though not exactly lawful good), and also as a sort of guide or counselor when needed, like Troi from Star Trek TNG.  If you crack a joke about her being old, she takes it in stride and makes fun of herself, too.  She's just such a likable character, and reminds me of my own grandma =P

One of my fav. fictional characters is Charlie Pace from the television show LOST. He occupies a warm little place in my heart because he was just such a good character. He was a rocker in a one-hit-wonder band called Drive Shaft when he crashed on the Island with all the other lost castaway peoples, and had to kick his heroin addiction the old fashioned way because there was no rehab clinic on the island (obviously) :P

I'm kind of a softie for Charlie right now, because just recently I reached the point in the show where Charlie dies D':

OH DEAR, DECISIONS, DECISIONS. Oh, I know. Donatello, from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. (GASP.)
Well, I like him because,well...he's a turtle, he's super smart, he can build anything, and he's the pacifist out of the four turtles, also the less violent. I find that so cute. But then when the time to kick ass, he kicks ass.

My childhood favorite was probably Kit Cloudkicker.  Whoever did the writing for him (particularly in the opening story of Tale Spin) made him really appealing by making him this sort of brash kid who was still vulnerable underneath the front he put up.  Plus, he looked good in a neckerchief, so he was probably kind of a cartoon crush for me back then.

My current favorite is tougher to answer, since that's perhaps more fluid.  I'd say Dick Grayson.  Through the comics and through the DC Animated Universe stuff, I've been exposed to him in various media, and I always enjoy his character, whether he's Robin, Nightwing, or Batman (especially as Batman, paired up with the current Robin).   He just seems to rise to do whatever he needs to, and I feel a little like I've grown up along with the character, somewhat.
FoxiePanda

I always thought the name Dick Grayson was really neat. I'm not really sure why though. XD
Hibiscus
I like the name Dick Grayson because it's a very 1930's/1940's pulp action hero sort of name, and sort of old fashioned.  Not something a modern fiction writer would come up with (in seriousness) these days.

From the very first time I saw Yellow Submarine, he reminded me of myself. And yet, for some reason, I really liked him. (I didn't much care for myself back then. Maybe I still wanted to.) He was a clever fellow who just needed a chance to prove his worth. And friends; until The Beatles showed up, he probably didn't even realize that he was lonely. Besides, he's cute and fuzzy.

I must say Bernard Marx. This character is  from ALdous Huxley's "A Brave New World" novel.
Bernard can be cruel when he is verbally threatened... he is a free-thinker, he question all stablished rules and he don't give much importance what everybody else says about his social interactions (no matter if it is of his range, comunal events or even his sexuality).

I really couldn't pick one I think...it always seems like a character is TOO damn perfect or too damn flawed....moreso characters are ALWAYS too damn perfect and super-hero-y....

I try and try to think, but everything seems so flawed...more then anything I tend to like characters who don't have a lot of bullshit superpowers and are more-so flawed, human beings, pardon my french, but beyond that I don't really prefer a character beyond another...A fictional character is interesting to me when they arn't so perfect, and there's more then a dozen I could list, none more my favorite then the other.
FoxiePanda

I think my favorite character is probably Medusa from Soul Eater, I guess I like her mostly because she's so manipulative. You can never fully understand her motivations and she kind of a big question mark. Whether you think she's a sympathetic character, or completely insane she still manages to be completely bad-ass. XD

Chrona and Ragnarok are in close second just because they're such an awesome combination, and when Chrona's insane he's epic X3
FoxiePanda

Medusa was a pretty interesting character for how crazy she was! I do think Chrona is one of my favorites though. I kept getting confused, as I'm sure most did, with the gender. XD

Homer Simpson and Eric Cartman from South Park. Both are conflicted, bigoted, ne'er do-wells who are tons of fun to watch.

I know someone in real life who distinctly reminds me of both of them (with a big helping of Bender from Futurama, as well) He's a horrible human being but if he wrote his autobiography, it would be a best seller.

OK I'll tell you just one of the many stories involving my "friend." Let's call him Jake.

Fifteen years ago, there was a sensational murder case in Delaware. Thomas Capano (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_J._Capano), a very politically connected lawyer (the former deputy attorney general of the state), murdered his mistress. He and his brothers took the woman's body, put it in a cooler, wrapped the cooler in chains, took the cooler in a boat 100 miles off the atlantic coast, dumped the cooler into the ocean, and shot the cooler with a rifle to make it fill with water and sink. About a year later, police get a call from a fisherman who had recovered the cooler. They got DNA off it, arrested Capano, tried him, convicted him, and he was sentence to death. (On appeal many years later, the sentence was commuted to life in prison without the possibility of parole)

Jake happened to go to private school with Capano's daughter while Capano was on death row. One day, they were attending a party together, and someone offered Jake a drink. "NOOO! DON'T LOOK IN THE COOLER!!" he yells. Capano's daugher did not hear him, but several other people did, including her friends. They kicked his ass out of the party, and told him he was not welcome there again.

Making fun of someone because her dad is on death row... wow. That's all I can say.

The Boss, from Metal Gear Solid 3.
She's such a strong female character. After everything that's happened to her she continues to fight on for her country, knowing full well what will happen to her. She's very inspiring; it's a shame she doesn't exist. =(
Also, watching her disable an opponent by dismantling their gun is just brilliant!
That's just the first one that popped into my head; there's a lot more out there that I love!

Hmmm... I think my favorite was Katniss Everdeen from the "Hunger Games" trilogy. She was not the most intellegent, but that may be because of her youth. None-the-less she was feirce and without fault for the first two books! Her resolve was more than admirable, it was inspiring! To stand up and defend your younger sister, knowing you would possibly die, yet survive by out whitting the government with their own game! And then to do it AGAIN!

But in the thrid book, I lost my love for her. She grew depressing and so mopy. She just became a sort of drag to read, even tho I did enjoy the book!

So now, anyway, my favorite character defaults to Cinna! He is from the first two books in the Hunger Games trilogy. His character is GENIOUS! <3333 I fucking loved him! He knew just what to say to cheer Katniss up in the face of her upcoming brush with death, and his humor and intelligence makes him so desirable! He may have been gay (seeing as how I can only picture him as this flamboyant guy with that lisp and this amazing sense of fashion, since he is the lead designer in the books), and he was just so exciting to read! His character pops to life from the first few lines, and I instantly began to love him! <3 So, yes, he is my favorite!

I'd say one of my favorite fictional characters of all time is Revy from the Black Lagoon anime/manga series.  She's an emotionally damaged Chinese American woman who is a modern-day pirate that kicks all kinds of a**!  Her character is very engrossing because her background story reveals just how unstable, disenfranchised, and apathetic one can become when exposed to some of the darker realities of life as a child and learning to fight back over the years.
Another favorite character of mine from the same series is Lt. Balalaika, the matriarchal head of the Russian military mob based in Roanapur, a den of some of the deadliest villains you'll ever come across.  I think that explanation alone speaks volumes of why I think she's an interesting character.  (; ))
