I do not know you, i have never spoken t you, i have no reason to troll you in the slightest. All i see here is you complaining about other peoples art being in the popular section. And then making your own art to have it sit in the same section, replying with "To ensure that people dont see it as an attack on other peoples art" Which, in all honesty, seems to me like you are attacking other peoples art, and are trying to justify it by creating your submission to soften any blows. Thats all.

Don't read too much into it. I've had pics make the Popular section with less than 100 views. Think of it more as the Random section since every refresh produces a new set of pictures, and they will only appear for 3 days after they're posted anyway.

Your standards do not dictate the actions or preferences of this website. Stop trying to introduce policy that aims to do exactly that. It's annoying, it's pretentious and it misrepresents the popular feed by adding unspoken conditions to how it works.
The Popular section is for popular submissions. It's not a section specifically for finished works. Get over it. This is getting ridiculous.

have you noticed how FA has its submissions its a system similar to this site though this site has a larger expansion to sumitting things. so scraps are basically artwork you either do not wish to be shown on the front page or do not find satisfactory enough hence why its called scraps, i don't see you faving a scrap piece of paper :P just thought id put this here, not trying to start a fight just trying to show you how wrong you are.

sometimes scraps are good to look back on just enough to memorize maybe improve what you messed up on or failed at. its why I do scraps when I upload. but it depends verily.

Scraps are also treated as submissions like anything else submitted to the site. Yes, it's not representative of your best work from your own perspective, but the Popular section isn't expressing your opinion on your own art--it's expressing everyone else's opinions on your art. 5000 views and 700 favorites on a sketch can say fuckloads more than "I spent an hour on this and there's so many issues with it."
Your own personal standards aren't being met, but the cool thing about subjectivity is that it doesn't matter what your own standards are--the section works based on cold, hard data. It works purely based on user response. Everything else is completely irrelevant. If your concern is that works aren't developed enough and they shouldn't be showcased, especially if they're your own, don't submit them to the site. Period.
I'm sorry, but this position is literally non-defensible. If these subjectively-defined "scraps" were legitimately bad on some sort of objective level, people would either not pay attention to them or they would leave negative comments on them. They're not; in fact, they're doing the exact opposite, hence their inclusion on the popular section. What you feel about your own art doesn't matter. It does its job. That doesn't need to change.

Please understand, it's the most popular pieces from the last 3 days.... it's not like it's going to stay there longer then 3 days. So who cares.... the fact is you have a lot of watches for a reasons, so you pics will make it there regardless what you post. They see you post something, so they click on it to see what it is. It's not like they said, "Hey this pic is good let me click this mysterious magical button that throws my vote on it making it's way into the popular section."
There's only really like 2 real solutions for this: 1) they put an extra check box for the poster to disable it from being allowed entry into the popular section, or 2) they add a button on new submissions that viewers can click to vote for it during the first 3 days.
Personally I don't see an issue with it since unless you post 100 pics there's gonna be lots of other pics in that section randomly popping up.
