Blog crossposting

by
I've been wondering lately whether or not to start cross-posting stuff from my blog...

...whether i start doing that or not, i havent decided yet, but today, i just felt like sharing this particular post, because i have strong feelings about it.

Not a fan of cross-posting, but I read it as it's a special case.

As a Security Specialist (Read as: "Internet Vacuum Cleaner) I deal a lot with big name companies protecting their logo. In some cases it's about being self centered and over protective, but in other cases it's about CYA (Cover Your Ass). In this case the inclusion of the specific logo with the name differentiates from other no-name companies coming by and suing for infringement on wording, colors, and even logo layout.

While something like the Nike Swoosh is easily recognizable alone and can stand by itself the smiley under the AMAZON logo is pointless without the Amazon name above it. So you can stamp a Nike swoosh on any site and people say "Nike; cool." you put a fat yellow smiley on a page and people say "WTF?!"

While I sympathize with your creative freedom being stomped on by the guys above that's the way it has always been between the creative and the money sides of the coin; you make everything the way you want it, then they trim the edges to fit inside the box.

Mostly just upset about it because it wasnt just us who were excited, it was our client too, and it was *him* who got stomped on by corporate. He was so disappointed, too... he wanted to be kinda different and independant - because they are in fact two entities - Del Sol Australia is a subsidiary of Del Sol, but not the same brand or company, if that makes sense.

Makes sense. Unfortunately you always have to go with the one paying the bill. Even if theyre wrong.

This will happen sometimes. Just as long as you got paid . . .

I'd say "within limits".  A problem I had a few months back was that anyone I met "outside of furry sites" could easily look up my furry antics and other goings on because I used the same username everywhere.  I'd bear that in mind for making this decision.  On the other paw you're cleaner than most furries so that might not be so much of a problem.
