IP wont pin point his location, just a general area where the ISP is located. In example, my IP will direct you to Cininnati Ohio but I really live about 30 miles away.

irregardless, like I said, I wouldnt post his IP cuz some fanatic here is gonna DDoS him and make troubles for all of us.

Two things.
1. Irregardless is the negative of regardless, which is already a negative. This loses you all your credibility points.
2. If there are people out there who are able and willing to attack the hacker, they are very likely to also do something equally stupid and remove themselves from the genepool.

If the guy is smart (but judging by the fact he didnt know FA IP logs anyways), he couldve setup a proxy.

In any case, although I dont defend the idiot, I wouldnt post his IP for the fact some fanatic here might DDoS him for acting like this.

The thing is, I cant necessarily say what he did was absolutely wrong. I mean, I have my fun around places too and make a nuisance of myself, but then again, I dont break rules/laws like, oh, COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT or THEFT. Oh and dont forget CRIMINAL HARASSMENT.

Report the IP and like I said, I'd take it down.

The point I'm trying to make is that trolls feed on attention. They'll laugh their ass off while they "lose" because it's fun to see just how pissed off you can make someone. If you want to have less of these sorts of issues you simply Acknowledge it's there, get the proper Admin/Mod to remove them, and keep it calm.

The most you could do is get a cease and desist... but he's already chosen to do that of his own accord.

In fact, if this were to go to court he could argue that Aval0n is revealing his personal information online and "calling to arms" for people to cause harm to him.

But *shrugs* it's not like people -think- about stuff first...

I wonder how funny he would find it if I crashed his computer, or used his IP to track his activities and keylogged him. I could ruin his fuckin life. How...... quaint.

Still, I will say this: Posting the guy's IP address is no different than FA having it available in the first place. The only harm comes from certain people (Me, maybe) who would take the information and use it to cause utter chaos.

In another view, look at it this way: If you drop your credit card, most people would pick it up and return it to you, not even bothering to memorize or record the numbers. Some, however, would memorize or record this info, and use it to cause trouble.

That aside, Your IP can locate your ISP, but if you poll the ISP for legal resons, you can obtain the user's mac address as well. You can then use that to track where the user is, based on what he accesses. I speak from experience, because I had to do this to resolve my own case of identity theft. It isn't the most surefire way to go, tho. It takes A LOT of time and dedication to trace an IP to an accurate location. Finding his town is one thing. Finding his house is quite another.

Anyways, didnt mean to rant there, just wanted to voice my own opinion.
