Kitty Update - AnthroCon '11: Freakin' Unexplained Nonsense (FUN)

You know,  after all of the crappy things that always try to ruin the way we live, this may be the most epic turn about I've ever experienced.  So far Blazger and I managed to get a possible summer job with Morin's landlord for landscaping.  It's mainly a project to chop down and clear a couple of acres of trees and leftover branches.  For a manual labor job, I'm willing to do anything just to get off of my ass.  There's also another job opportunity at Meijer in which our neighbor will put in a good word for us.  If this goes through, we can finally get back to taking care of the apartment as well as getting back on our feet.  And who knows, this may be the reset needed to be back to the way things were a long time ago.

Now for the main subject, AnthroCon.  Man oh man I really didn't expect for all of this to happen this year.  Everything was so downhill I thought it was a wasted effort to go down there for nothing.  With Blazger having a bunch of Pop-Tarts in tow, that was practically the only reason why we've went.  But these days were worth the building suspense.  I thought I would never experience to do these things if not for the first time, then again for the longest time.

We arrived on Thursday and I was just happy that we arrived.  I've managed to get a couple of random greetings and silliness in.  As the day went on, I've actually managed to run into

, and a couple of others.  At first I'm like "Holy crap! It's the meeting of the mobians."  Which, in itself, was badass.  It was awesome to get to actually see and get to be around them for the first time.  But then again I want to get to know them a little more so I can actually pounce into conversation instead of being the odd cat in the group. :P  The only thing that ruined the entire day were the thoughtful facts of our electric(Monday), van(Tuesday), then gas(Wednesday) being dead in order by day along with being unable to cash our personal paycheck from our boss.  I thought that going to the con was a complete waste of time and missing my past and present toon icons in my life that night made it worse.

When Friday morning came about, I figured for shits and giggles why not go in fursuit so I can be "amused."  As I went to the lobby and got a couple of pictures from fellow furs and guests, I saw a few other suiters outside doing random stuff.  As a curious kitty, I went outside to see what was going on.  On the side there was BigBlueFox recording the suiters having fun with the locals.  Suddenly a stretch limousine pulled up around the corner as I walked closer and another suiter stepped out with a lollipop and a random bag and playfully passed out.  Unfortunately I thought the moment BBF panned the camrea to the other fursuiters, I got caught in the line of view.  So as they rushed into the limo, I followed suit to play along with the act.  As it turns out, the fainted suiter Baby Cheetah has planned for specific fursuits to join him on his own segment.  The fursuits were suppose to be Baby Cheetah, Nitro Shepard, JD Puppy, Kijani Lion, and a couple of fursuiters that weren't able to make it on time.  And here I thought "Great.  Add two more botch points for fail cat."  Even though I wasn't the only stowaway in the limousine, there's still the fact that I was the only partial fursuiter in the entire group. =>.<;=

So where did this kitty randomly venture off to?  A children's playground.  Now granted I've handled a few kids before at Pridefest and at the Gameworks meets, but this particular playground had a school bus filled with them.  I've played the cute kitty routine meowing, nosing, high-fives and all.  Then before I knew it, some of the kids were actually following me and guiding around the playground.  I even had a dribble session or two with some of them.  After hopping on slides, climbing up ladders and helping kids on swings for a decent hour, we've all said our goodbyes.  Even though some of the kids were sad that we've left, that was the most revitalizing uplifting experience I ever felt and truly needed.  I guess The Magic of Fursuiting brings the best of even the most doubtful of furs.  Not to mention the hundreds of pictures we've received the instant we returned to the hotel.

Even though that lifted by full on depressed state there was still the fact of the felines having nothing to get registered.  That is until Jordan and [iconname]DariusKoopa[/iconname] managed to save the day that evening.  Knowing that Daruis is our roommate, he'll get the money back when our check finally gets cashed Tuesday.  As for Jordan, should all goes well, he can expect a cute sketch from roareycaccoon later this year.  After we've finally registered, things skyrocketed from then on out.  We've managed to make it to the MLP panel before hand though and ran into the present icons of happiness and fun.  Yes, there were two pony suiters of Applejack and Rainbow Dash inside the panel and Blaze actually won a raffle of a free brony badge of himself.  Then came the night time. (Geez!)  I've went to the dance for only a good hour when Firr was spinning and the crowd was jumping.  I even hopped on the stage and danced around.  He was awesome for mixing the songs for AC.  I don't quite recall what happened other than taking pictures and roaming around the hotel and outside the front area.  But I do remember one cool person I've ran into during the day.  The all cool red bandana wolf
LupineAssassin
LupineAssassin
.  In all honesty, he a real kickass person to get to know better.

Saturday finally came around.  Now for a brief equation, Poor Economy + Food Stamps = Advantage  For me and Blaze we can survive a good week of plain and easy to make food for a week or two before next months stamps come in after AC.  The reason for the equation was because we've brought an estimate of $160 filled with poptarts.  Meaning that we had at least 80 or more boxes of variety flavors. We went in fursuit and invaded Dealers Den, Artist Alley, and the Art Auction Display that morning.  We've only been in there for a good two hours and sixty if not seventy were gone before the parade came around.

It was at that time that I found the past icons of the all things cool and badass.  There were actual fursuits of T-Bone and Razor, The Swat Kats.  Those felines stood up above all cat out there.  Sorry Thundercats and Samurai Pizza Cats, those two are still the best.  During the parade the fire tiger decided us to go last again.....but the randomness followed when Vin the Fox attacked us with his chainsaw. :P  A little bit after the parade I was wondering about in fursuit in the lobby and suddenly there was a random guy on his guitar that

was recording.  He was going by random furs and locals just making jokes left and right as he's singing on the fly.  So much in fact that he was asked to leave the lobby and the convention center that day.  But he stayed around Tonic though.  Fortunately I recorded most of it....but speaking of Tonic.

TonyRingtail

and a buddy of his were doing a little experiment that his friend was passing around.  A hot sauce called Magma.  Everyone says that it's uber hot and no one can take it and with me being a Random Black Man decided to take the challenge.  They've tried it on a tortilla chip and I've ate it in suit.  It only got the center of my roof and tongue.  It was hot and tasty....but that was it.  I decided to step it a notch as BBF continued to record.  Yes, I took a big swig of it.  "HOLY HELL WHY AM I NOT YIFFING YET?!"  Right away raver rabbit challenged me to have a Woodchuck Ale chugging contest.  Even though he packed it away with a bit of backfire, I drank mine down and I was still steaming.  I had no choice but to take my head off.  It was all in good fun though.  I believe I've found a new level of hot sauce.  Move over Tabasco and Habanero, Magma is the one for me.  Any hot sauce with flavor is considered Hot Sauce.  Any sauce that just burns is straight up acid in my opinion.

Recovering I've ran into a few fursuiters that I've gotten pictures with as well as a couple of old acquaintances.   After a bit of R&R it was time to prepare for the dance.  But not before getting some dinner thanks to our roommies who covered for everyone.  During that time I went back outside that night and recorded some more craziness.  Sadly I've missed 0ddj0b's set.  But I came in on Big Blue Fox's and Cheetah.de's sets.  Kitty was back on stage doing random dances, jumping jacks with Cheetah, fiddling around with an unused headphone, witnessing Applejack shaking her hoof thang in the middle of the stage.  I just wanted to chant "Big Blue Fox, Cheetah Rocks" at the end of the dance.  But then again, I didn't want to disrespect the other DJs up there.  Sunday was leaving day since our ride had to be at work on Monday.  I was taking pictures like crazy like I use to when I first joined the fandom before we left.  That and the random guitar guy was there again singing.  All in all I had one hell of a time.

The first AC was the first time AC moved to Pittsburgh and it was an incredible experience.  The second year was that awesome with the impact to the Steel City Diner and me having my rave staff spin session on the rooftop of the convention center. The third year was alright even though they limited the use of light staffs and sabers in the dance floor.  Fourth and fifth was sort of a fade not only with a slight lack of the theme but with the nonsense we've endured personally.  But this year, year number six was the ultimate jolt that I needed.  This year proved to me that even with a horrible economy, lack of job opportunities, and a questionable current running government (to others), we must make the most of it and still enjoy what we have so that we can keep positive and move on towards a better future.

For the record.  With everything stated for Thursday, all of that will be handled with the week if not two.  Now that there are four of us with jobs and an artist, we can get everything back on in no time.  So there's no need to worry.

well I'm glad you had a blast!  I wouldn't have risked Iy myself with the lack of money!   But it sounds like you pulled it off and had a really awesome time!   You should have taken pictures of the sonic group.  That would have been Interesting to see if they were In suits.
