Haha, I think it's about time I put down a proper set of rules and principles that I like to work by. This is to help customers know how I like to work and what to expect of me. I'll keep this as concise as possible!
If you don't like it, you don't pay for it.
Nothing bothers me more than an unhappy customer. If you aren't happy with the finished product then I don't expect you to part with your money for it. Don't be nervous about being honest, this is a transaction made for your pleasure and my bank account, both must be adequately fulfilled.
You don't pay until the work is finished.
I don't like being paid until the work is done, it's a lot easier on me psychologically. I have a few illnesses that can prevent me from completing work in a timely fashion. Rather than taking your money and then not being able to finish your pic, making you feel like I've robbed you, like some kind of shit, your money stays with you until you have a product ready to purchase. Seriously, do not pay me in advance, your money is a wonderful reward after the pic is completed.
You can change your mind about wanting an image at any time before work is started.
Because you don't pay until there's a completed image, we both don't owe each other anything. If you change your mind about wanting something before I've started it, that is absolutely fine and I will respect your decision entirely. If I'm too slow for you let me know, you don't sign a contract with me.
Give me as much detail as you can about your commission.
I want you to be happy with what you pay for, so please let me know all details when you have a specific idea in mind. If you want me to come up with something for you I am happy to do that. If this is the case, let me know some things that you definitely DON'T want, so I won't draw something you don't like.
If I think I can't draw something well, I will tell you.
I have a skill set that emphasizes the cute and cuddly. I am not a whiz at everything. It will help you get a piece you are happy with if you commission me for my strengths. If I feel I won't be able to give you my best I will tell you. If you feel I have not performed as well as you hoped, refer to above and don't pay me your money XP.
I like to work in a relaxed, no pressure way.
I have anxiety issues so I thrive with laid-back customers. I want us both to be as chill as possible, making for a pleasant, stress-free transaction. You'll walk away happy and so will I. Win! I will, from time to time, find it very hard to finish a commission, which is why you don't pay up-front. I'm not a businessman, I don't operate like one and I don't want to start either. This is about making art that brings you joy, I'm not selling cars or magazine furniture. Stress is not conductive to my creativity so I avoid it like the plague that it is.
I have so far drawn more than a thousand commissions and my relaxed attitude has not resulted in one person ripping me off. The furry community has the best art customers in the world and I look forward to making cute pictures with you :B.
