When she developed back troubles, she demanded out- they would not let her and let her keep credits.

Relatively affordable compared to what? They already lose around 200-400 dollars on every console. They lost as much or more on ps3's. You can't expect them to just give them away.
I dare you to find a factory PC with those components for cheaper, or to build it yourself for less.

Well you kinda called me insane =P Anyway, no I bought my PS3 new from Gamestop for about $150, somewhere in that area, and the 360s were cheaper than that. Of course, could also be I grew up with gaming from the then amazing Atari, and although everything was cheaper when I was little, I don't ever remember a console getting quite that high.
