Do People Prefer 80s TMNT Over The 2004 One?!

First I want to make sure you understand that this is not a rant by any means but I'm really asking a legitimate question here.

Like everybody else who's my age I grew up with the old TMNT, ya know the one from the 80s, the one with Krang, Rocksteady & Bebop, The Technodrome, you know, I used to love it as a kid and I liked how the video games tried to borrow from it.

Later on, in 2004 Fox-kids released the newer TMNT, the American anime, the one with the badass Shredder and Splinter being a real rat and all that, at first I was like "This show sucks, they ruined the characters' designs and back stories, and why do the turtles look so huge and have no pupils?" Leo only wants to meditate and is not as brave and skilled as he used to, Don is trying too hard to be funny yet he's still a boring nerd, Micky became irresponsible (I liked his love for video games though) and don't even get me started on Raph, back then I was being unfair with it, later on I started slowly to get caught by the show, I grew to like it, by the time they released the second season I was already hooked to it.

Then came out TMNT Fast Forward and let me tell you, in my life I never watched a better series of TMNT, I couldn't ask for anything better, the only thing was missing from the show was The Shredder, I actually liked the lack of April and Casey, I found Cody to be much more interesting anyway.

Back to the Sowers was a let down for me, mostly because it tried too hard to be as epic as Fast Forward but after perfection there's nowhere to go but downhill, also I hated that they redesigned the characters to look somewhat in between their modern and classic designs from the old show.

When I learned about TMNT Forever and how they brought back the old characters in the new ones' environment I was excited to watch and see how the movie is like, to tell the truth I wasn't expecting much at first because TMNT are known to have really shitty movies (the ova isn't any better) but let me tell you I was dead wrong, I really enjoyed every minute of it and I laughed at all the jokes they made about the old show, I liked everything about it and the only complaint I got is the lack of a sequel XD

I learned later that many people hated how the movie was laughing and mocking the old show, with the turtles thinking of nothing but pizza all the time, how the city being attacked by weird creatures and having to save April in every episode who's totally useless in that show, how Raph keeps talking to the audience in an annoying and unnecessary way, how Don creates impressive gadgets using nothing but a toaster and apparently some kind of magic, how The Shredder does not level up to his title and can't be taken seriously *cough*modern Eggman*cough* ya know these things, but to me I liked these jokes, they were funny cause they were true.

Recently I been hearing a lot of braise for the new TMNT on Nick, to be fair I haven't really got the chance to watch this show, the timing of this show just couldn't be any worse, add to that the fact while all the other TMNT shows were dubbed by Lebanese people to Arabic this one was dubbed by Egyptians, and those who know me know how much I hate Egyptian dubs, watching such a show feels exactly like having yourself hanging from the ceiling with your tongue being pierced with a hook and a dog is biting your balls and a bird picking your eyeballs, yeah it's that bad, which is also one of the reasons why I could never watch the new My Little Pony (but not the only reason).

Now the new show is on Nick, a channel I really dislike, and is dubbed by Egyptians, a really REALLY bad voice acting, the CG is really crappy, and I hear the show is a lot like the old cartoon which I can't seem to enjoy or take seriously no more.

So that's about it, do most people really prefer the old TMNT over the one from 2004 or no?

I grew up with the 80's cartoon. Funny thing though is that the original comic was actually quite dark.

Still, I prefer for the characters to have the "cute" look from the 80's, but with the villains actually being a threat instead of buffoons.

I didn't wanna talk about the comics here but yes another reason why I liked the 2004 show later on was because it was closer and more connected to the original comics than the 80s show.

I use to grow up during the 90's, but I saw some 80's cartoons back then.

well it's considered a common mistake to call the old TMNT show from the 80s where people keep mentioning that since it started off in 1989 which was two years before the 90s, later seasons came in the 90s and some carried on to the middle/late 90s.
