Whew!

Rushed to the ER this morning at 7AM. I've had sharp pain in my upper left leg since Wednesday, and I can barely walk. Couldn't sleep a wink last night.

One nurse said sciatica, another said arthritis. They injected me and gave me a quick bite to eat, then prescribed me 3 medications.

If I told you I was scared, would you believe me?

Having survived to 55 with any number of ailments, my only advice is -- don't let the fear win. Learn what's happening, what seems to cause it, what seems to alleviate it, and how to overcome it. You'll do just fine! If nothing else, remember Norman Cousins. They told him he would die in six months; he set his jaw and said, "No, I won't!" And he didn't! He went another 20 years (if I recall correctly). Ain't over till YOU say so. Assassinate fear! YOU are in control!

I occasionally get sciatica.  It's a nerve pain which I get if my weight goes up to about 280 lbs or more.  Hurts like hell, but...

Three medications for it?   Did they give any hint as to how severe they thought it was?

I wish they would've given me a definitive answer. I'll hopefully get one during my follow-up visit.

I recently had an issue with my leg, where I'd taken a groundball off of it.  Thought it was a fracture that turned into a break from a couple of weeks of walking white fatass....turned out to be a blood clot.  Glad it wasn't a break, but blood clots bring their own issues.  Anyways, get better.

Oh get well soon. Hmmm my boyfriend has some pain in his upper leg too since last week. He has to stand the whole day at a cash point. I thought it might be a kind of overwork. Do you have to stand a lot too ?

No, thank goodness. After walking for a while, I would have to sit down. Since being discharged from the Army, the pains remain. *hugs*
