Olivia Newton-....Mouse?!?

I've been in an ELO mood of late, ever since a certain black wolf posted his ref sheet, which he got from the same artist who did mine, and he reminded me that she (said artist) happens to be a big Don Bluth fan (which I knew- we had our $25 ref sheet commissions done at about the same time... Also, the artist in question is a squirrel... ;) ), and mentioned the "Don't Walk Away" animation sequence Don Bluth did for the ELO/Olivia Newton-John movie "Xanadu" (1980).... And I can't get the music from the soundtrack album (the entire ELO side plus the two hits from the ONJ side) out of my mind! :)

As some might know, I've been an ELO fan since 1972, when ELO first cracked the Top 40 with their (LONG!) version of Chuck Berry's "Roll Over Beethoven", and have been intermittently active in the ELO fan community for some years (helped create the "alt.music.elo" Usenet newsgroup in the mid '90s)...

(And

marmelmm made my ELO-style avatar for me... :) )

But then, I got to thinking..... (Uh-oh- Danger time! The skunk is thinking again! o.o )

Has any ELO-savvy fur who +watches me ever imagined my mousegirl character, Amy, as Olivia Newton-John's character from the movie "Xanadu"?

....Now, if only I could afford to have that idea commissioned.... O.o

Now THAT'S an awesome idea. I happen to love ONJ, especially her stuff from the early 70's. "Love Song" and "I Will Touch You" are two of my personal favourites (yes, I sampled both of them). I also have her first two films, "Funny Things Happen Down Under" and "Toomorrow" in my external drives.

Once I get some money, I'll suggest to

betsy if she wants to draw Amy as ONJ.... and somehow fit me in the pic somehow. :P

Considering how long it's been, I'm not sure she'd still have Amy's references (including the ref sheet- I don't think it's still in her gallery on FA), and I don't think she keeps an account here on IB, so... :P

But yeah-- ELO mood + Amy as ONJ's character... Only thing is, Amy's lesbian... o.o I wanted to find a way to fit Amy into my ELOism, and "Xanadu" was the first thing to come in mind.... (Like, say, the image of ONJ holding the ELO logo above her head, thus Amy, as ONJ, could be holding my avatar

over her head in the same pose, for example... ;) )

Next time I chat with her, I'll suggest your ideas. Perhaps she still has your references in her archives. ^^ I really feel a new

betsy pic is in the stars for us. :)

Even better, I'll ask her to draw Amy as Kira, and me as Sonny Malone. :D

The only hangup in that is that those two characters fall in love in the movie- And Amy, being lesbian... :P It would fit, otherwise...

Like I said, the characters do fit, just the only thing that doesn't is that Amy is lesbian. I can see the wuffie as Sonny the club owner, and Amy certainly is my muse... ;)

...And both of us are ELO nuts... :)
