If Krezz quits, Swiss Mix may end as well (Update: Krezz won't quit!)

I have bad news. The Palcomix web site that hosts the web comic that was the inspiration for Swiss Mix, "School Days" by Krezz Karavan, got denial of service attacked by hackers. It completely shut down the Palcomix and TJA websites for the past several days. I heard today from a source that knows him very well, his artist colleague bbmbbf, that Krezz is so despondent over the matter that he has announced he is quitting.

I'm not sure I can or should continue my Swiss Mix story if his web comic ceases to exist. Swiss Mix is fan fiction based on Krezz's comic. It seems to me that it would be bad form to continue writing about his world and his characters if he wants to stop his comic. The town of Pouncefield and most of the school kids that Hans and his family meet and interact with in Pouncefield are Krezz's creations.

If Krezz does quit entirely, then maybe I will write a new, original story to post here, and see if I can include some of the requested guest characters in it. We will see. If I do, it would get posted on the inkbunny website.

At best, it will be a few more weeks before I try to write again. Still having issues with sick pets, and now one of my parents is very ill, and I need to travel to see them.

(Update 5/22 - See below. Krezz responded to his fan support and will not quit after all)

If he quits, he'll give in and the ddos attackers win. He has every right to be pissed off and upset about it, but he should see that he has enough fans and friends to support him and tell him he shouldn't give up. :)

And I hope your pets and family will get better soon.

As I said in BBM's journal, to give it time. Its too soon to just go ahead and throw in the towel and accept him leaving. He IS down over this matter, meaning that, emotionally, he is not ready to deal with this. Wait til his head is clear and cool before drawing any conclusions to anything.

For my own part, I'll wait and see what Krezz does. Maybe even try to contact him directly and ask his opinion on whether I should continue Swiss Mix even if he stops creating the School Days comic. Maybe he will continue School Days here on InkBunny, or elsewhere? We don't know yet.

As for my pets and family, well, we hope for the best that we can get.

One dog is over 10 years old, and diagnosed terminal with a form of cancer. But his Vet didn't give him very good odds of living even three days after that diagnosis, and we're going on 5 weeks now since then, with a lot of TLC for the old guy. Still, if he lives through the end of the month, I will be amazed. Even without this illness, old age would have claimed him in a few more years. Doesn't make it any easier, but his last days will be with his family, and he's happy and content, and generally comfortable.

Another pet is a puppy that got Parvovirus. It was expensive to save him, but he's been treated and is recovering well. His story, at least, promises to have a happy ending. He should be well again in a few more weeks.

My mom is also diagnosed with a terminal illness, and it is, for all intents and purposes, untreatable. We're getting her care to make her comfortable, but she also won't last long, I fear. But she's lived a long and fulfilling life, with loving family and friends, and is at an age where something is certain to eventually claim her, no matter what we do. It's incredibly sad, but at least not unexpected. I'm just glad I should have time to see her again, before she passes on. This is a stage in life that we all must face eventually, when an older loved one reaches the end of their allotted time among us. All we can do is to let them know how much we love them, while we can.

Life will go on, but these matters have placed a burden on my heart, that makes it hard for me to be creative right now. I won't let it shut down my creative efforts. But it will take time to get over this period in my life.

My own School Days related fan fiction and art is on hold until I can get a better idea of what Krezz is going to do. If Krezz quits entirely, I will try to contact him directly and ask his opinion about fan-created, School Days related material continuing without him.

If Krezz quits and if he doesn't support the idea of fan fiction based on his work continuing, then I'll stop my School Days fan-fiction stories and art, and I will create some new fiction and art that is not tied to his world and characters. I won't stop creating similar furry stories and art, but what I would produce in his absence wouldn't continue to rely on what he created and then chose to end.

I left a message in his Inkbunny account, asking him not to give up and quit. But that link is the only way I have left to contact him, other than maybe asking bbmbbf to relay a message. All my other points of contact for Krezz were linked to the Palcomix and TJA sites.

Well, good news follows the bad!

Krezz has responded to the many messages of love and support from the furry community and his fans, and says he won't quit after all, though he certainly intended to when this first struck him. See his response here: https://inkbunny.net/journalview.php?id=10127#commentid...
